Art of Living MODERN went international to work on Stak, a French-Italian Restaurant in Petionville, Haiti. During our travels, we were able to verify the site dimensions, make crucial material choices and meet with the architect and contractor to confirm the scope of work. Cheryl and Maria were able to submerse themselves in the Haitian culture by experiencing their local foods, markets and people. Those experiences informed our design decisions for Stak to create an industrial – modern space. Inspired by Citadelle Laferriere, Haiti’s colorful and jagged cliff dwellings, Art of Living MODERN was able to form a space that drew from their local material resources such as cement, stone, wood, and wrought iron. Stak is designed to encourage community by providing a beautiful local space to eat and gather in Petionville, Haiti’s premier destination.
